George P. Bukuras, Esq., CPA

George Bukuras is a member of Narva & Company’s advisory team. George brings a diverse, multi-disciplinary perspective to client service, developed through a unique combination of professional training as a business attorney and CPA, and executive level operating experiences gained in both family-controlled enterprises and private equity owned organizations.

George’s professional training began at the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse & Co. (now PwC), before entering the private practice of law where George was a co-founding partner of Lapping & Bukuras, LLP, a boutique business law firm. In his professional capacities George has assisted clients with business matters and transactions in numerous industries including manufacturing, food service, environmental services, construction, distribution, and engineering.

As an operating executive, George has had experience in manufacturing and distribution companies with revenues ranging from $25 million to $1.2 billion, engaged in consumer product goods, water infrastructure and flow control, and power transmission. During his career George has held positions in virtually all of the functional aspects of management, serving at various times in the positions of controller, sales manager, general manager, general counsel, chief compliance officer, chief operating officer and chief executive officer.

In late 2000, George participated in a private equity investment when he was recruited by former PWC colleagues to join Mueller, a DLJ Merchant Banking investment consisting of a number of water flow companies acquired from Tyco International. As Mueller’s General Counsel, George provided counsel to the company’s Board of Directors, CEO, officers and senior management on a wide range of business matters. On behalf of Mueller, George negotiated and closed numerous M&A transactions valued between $1 million to $2 billion, including the company’s first acquisition in China. As Corporate Secretary of the organization, George was additionally responsible for matters relating to corporate governance.

Subsequent to his tenure at Mueller, George began consulting with middle-market companies, and assumed interim roles as CEO and chairman of family-owned enterprises in need of organizational development and/or turnaround management, before founding Milestone Business Advisors, LLC, a general management firm which helps middle market businesses and their owners navigate the developmental stages of growth.

A published writer and sought after speaker on matters relating to business, George’s manner is to bring a holistic perspective to the study of entrepreneurship and its human dynamic.

George, who hailed from a large ethic family with underpinnings in entrepreneurship, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University and his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School. George and his wife reside in Boston and have two adult children and two grandchildren.
