Prior to founding Narva & Company in January 2009, Richard was a partner at The Roseview Group, a boutique business advisory and investment banking firm, following more than two decades of family business consultation as principal and co-founder of Genus Resources, Inc. He presents frequently for professional organizations, conferences and executive seminars. He is also a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute, the international professional association of advisors from all professions serving family business, and as a Fellow of FFI served as a mentor for candidates from varied professions seeking FFI certification as a Family Business Advisor.

Mr. Narva is the author and editor of many publications. His new book, Family Enterprises: How to Build Growth, Family Control and Family Harmony, was published in March 2015 by UK publishers, Globe Law and Business. His governance articles have appeared in Directors’ Monthly, the publication of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He was for many years a contributing editor of FamilyBusiness Magazine, the leading periodical on this subject published in the United States. He has edited two editions of The Directors Manual, a guide to the establishment of university based family business programs published by the International Family Business Program Association.

Mr. Narva has been elected to the boards of directors of both public and private family controlled businesses, including service on the board of a substantial private family firm as an independent director elected pursuant to settlement of litigation among three shareholder/siblings. He currently serves on the [non-fiduciary] councils of advisors of several family controlled companies and as an independent trustee of a trust for the benefit of the family shareholder group that controls a global retail company.

Mr. Narva earned his A.B. from Brown University and J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he served as Book Review and Articles Editor of The Boston University Law Review. He is married to Shari Narva and is the father of five children and grandfather of two grandsons and a granddaughter.
